Coffee has changed so much over the years in Western culture. What started as a necessary cup of liquid to keep the working class going, has developed into World Championships and a market of home products that can be turned into a very pricey hobby.

We are seeing more and more growth in the coffee industry by way of technology, innovation in processing coffee, and the ever abundant presence of creators online sharing their reviews, techniques, and recipes. It feels like society is disconnected from itself at times, with half the population in on the trending beverage, and the other half simply uninterested in calling coffee anything other than that, just coffee. Neither side is in the wrong or right, but it starts to get muddled on the topic of coffee itself as we try to look at how people are interacting with it.

What has been true of coffee since its discovery is evident to all, and is how it holds a special place in time for all who participate. Whether you are clocking in before the sun rises, you’ve got a meeting with a friend at a local cafe, or you’re about to make a special pour from the comfort of your own home, coffee is meant to be enjoyed.

You don’t typically order a coffee because you’re punishing yourself, or that you treat it like a medicinal cure to an ailment. Coffee is ordered because it’s special. Most commonly it’s brewed and served warm, yet in any preparation, we find it to be a product our body reaches towards (literally). Cafes remain to stand as unique hubs of connection and community, and as more and more pop up, it doesn’t seem like this beverage’s popularity is diminishing any time soon

The reason we’ve been highlighting coffee’s presence and significance in our society is because we want to affirm the relationship any individual has with coffee, regardless of how it differs from others. Some rave and delight over single origin specialties, while others brew a simple pot after dinner to cater towards invited guests. This is such a diverse beverage, and it’s important that we allow ourselves the permission to enjoy it as it is available to us.

At Eden, we're proud to offer approachable, tasteful coffee and tea that is familiar and interesting, with a menu that serves the desires of every gathering.

So the next time you order or prepare a coffee, take a moment to breathe, and know that the drink you’re about to receive is well worth appreciating.
